Newport Buses

TheNetwork Manager reported to me that there has been a lot of pushing, play fighting and generally inappropriate behaviour by students getting on the buses at the end of the day recently. He also said that one lady was knocked back into her seat. While you are still in uniform you are representing the School and should conduct yourselves accordingly. I am sure that this was an isolated incident and considering the use that the bus gets our students get very little bad feedback .

Apprenticeships with TATA Steel

There are 25 apprenticeships available to Yr 11 leavers at Llanwern site and a further 60 at the Port Talbot site, dependent on their interest. All applicants MUST have C grade in Eng/Math and Sci- (DT is acceptable as a Science qual), application forms are available to download from the TATA website. If anyone needs any help filling in the forms let me know.

Year 11 pathways evening

Dont forget this takes place at the Christchurch Centre tomorrow between 4.30 and 7. Please make an effort to get along there to se what courses are available to you.

Road Safety

A member of the public has contacted the school concerned that she had to brake sharply when students walked out infront of her car while crossing the road at the end of the day. This could result in an accident occurring. Please be sensible.

Learning Pathways Evening - 29th February

Come along on February 29th and chat with subject teachers to find out more about the different courses available to you in the Sixth Form. There are over 40 Post 16 Level 2 and 3 courses available for you to choose from.

The Canteen - VERY IMPORTANT

As of the beginning of the new-half term (21 Feb) canteen staff will not be able to put money into a student’s account. KS4 students will need to come to me for their three digit identity number and input it together with their cash at one of the top-up machines. Return customers will not be well received by me!

This Wednesday sees the second curriculum enrichment day, you should be in the following areas at 8.45:

Year 9 are to go to the Science wing

Year 10 Group 4 with Mr Hoskins in English     - MVE. RKH. RLL learners
             Group 6 with Mrs Brown/Miss Hopkins in English  - ALS and KB learners

Year 11 Group 2  in B1 area  - RLL, MVE and KB learners
              Group 5 music area  - RKH and ALS learners

Please be where you need to be on time.

Inter House swimming gala

Next week there will be an inter house swimming gala for years 9, 10 and 11. This will take place after school on Wednesday 8th February.

There will be a 25 metre breastroke, backstroke and Freestyle race and a 4 by 25 metre relay. Fo this competition I need 2 year 9s for each of the 25metre races and 4 for the relay. I also need competitors from year 10 and 11 to compete in similar races although their team will be combined.

If you are interested let either your TFL or me know.
