Year 10 Extended Work Experience

Can all Year 10 students who have chosen the Extended Work Experience option for next year please make sure they have completed a work experience form today and handed it back to me.

Over the Summer, Careers Wales will need to check that the company you have chosen has the correct insurance and without the forms being sent off today - you will not be able to start in September.

I will be in Mr Gilchrist's Science room during TFL for you to hand me the forms.

Changes to the School Day

From September, Year 7 and Year 8 have a new break time and a new lunch time.

These changes to lunch and break will not affect KS4 other than NO students can be in the main building during these times (other than the bottom corridor to the toilet)

Anyone studying hospitality needs to ensure that they bring in ingredients to cook lessons 1 and 2 tomorrow.

Locker keys

A reminder that locker keys need to be handed in. You need to put them in anenvelope eith your locker number and the key serial number on it.

Failure to return your key will result in a £4 bill for a replacement key.

Showcase of Talent

Don't forget the showcase of talent is tonight in the main hall.

Thursday 12th July

The Music department is holding a concert on Thursday 12th July in Newport High School main hall - tickets are £1.50 for pupils and concessions and £3 for adults. 
Doors are open at 6.00pm and the concert will start at 6.30pm. There are dance acts, vocal acts, rock bands and a staff band. 
Tickets are available now from the admin office and they are selling fast.

Assembly

There will be assembly on Tuesday. Please meet your TFL between the music room and the year 7 unit.

Locker Keys

All locker keys need to be handed in for a stock check by 11 July, please empty your locker prior to this. Repeated failure to do so would indicate a lost key. In this case you will be invoiced for a replacement at £4.00 and until this is received all examination certificates will be withheld. Keys are to be handed to your TFL.

Year 10 Work Experience

Just a reminder that Work Experience will be taking place from Monday 9th July until Friday 13th July for all Year 10 learners.

Year 10 learners can collect their bus tokens from 3pm from the admin hatch Thursday and Friday of this week.

Your paperwork will tell you what to wear, what hours you will be working and lunch arrangements. I am still waiting for some student paperwork, and I am sure it will be with me tomorrow and I will pass it on to you.

Please can Year 10 also collect a work experience booklet and a Health and Safety booklet from D2:01 any time on Thursday and Friday. The booklets will help to prepare you for your placement.

Finally - Please remember you are representing our school and also yourselves next week.

I am sure you will enjoy your placement and learn many new skills.
